Hunslet - Linda & Blanche
PENRHYN QUARRY, MAINLINE HUNSLET – LINDA & BLANCHE – A 16mm scale kit in both 32mm & 45mm gauges
Built by the Hunslet Engine Company, Leeds in 1893 (works No. 590) for mainline service on the Penrhyn Quarry Railway, at a cost of £800. Linda was sent from Hunslet on 6th July 1893, named after Linda Blanche Douglas-Pennant (1889-1965), the daughter of Edward Sholto and Blanche Georgina Douglas-Pennant.
Linda is available as a locomotive only kit, 0-4-0ST with an enclosed cab.
The kit includes motor, gears (& gearbox).
We also no offer Blanche, with piston valve cylinder & enclosed cab/tender.
(NOTE: following design constraints and testing issues we are selling this kit with a ready built motor & gearbox assembly with nylon gears [image below] – if the customer wishes to make their own arrangements for motor, gears or gearbox they are free to do so)
The kit also includes laser cut, 2mm steel locomotive frames & rods and CNC cut plastic cab sheet components.
Plus brass bearings for the rods & axles.
Also available from us is a Linda Tender kit that will convert your Linda into a tender engine. The tender will includes laser cut, 2mm steel frames.
The tender kit is available to purchase separately or with the loco kit. (see below)
BOTH LOCOS ARE 32mm or 45mm gauge, the gauge can be set during the build as the frames are just wide enough for 45mm.
There is also an option to purchase both together and reduce the P&P. (see below)
